and chaos, keep stillness inside of you."~

'in here' does.” ~

The
Beginning
Born in 1946 in New Delhi, Chopra's father was a well-known
cardiologist, as well as a well-decorated British army veteran.
However, it is
his grandfather Deepak Chopra quotes as having a huge influence on him when he
was a child and teenager.
Following a heart condition diagnosis, Chopra's
grandfather turned to Ayurveda – a form of alternative medicine native to India.
And so began a lifelong interest in the practice for Chopra. As a child on
through his teenage years, Chopra only ever expressed an interest in being a
journalist or actor. Despite the fact both his father and brother were doctors,
Deepak Chopra quotes a character from the Sinclair Lewis film "Arrowsmith" as
being his major inspiration to becoming a doctor.
Chopra graduated from the All
India Institute of Medical Sciences before emigrating to the United States and
completing an internship Mulhenberg Hospital, New Jersey.
Deepak Chopra
refers to
the year 1973 as being one of his most memorable, as this was when he was
granted his official license to practice medicine. In 2004, Chopra was awarded a
California State certified medical license and he went on to become
board-certified in internal medicine with his speciality being endrocrininology.
And so started a near lifetime's commitment to medicine, of all types, kinds and
varieties. Chopra is also an honored member of the American Medical Association.
"The less you open your heart to others, the more your heart suffers."

Deepak Chopra ~
“Every time you are tempted to
react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the
past or a pioneer of the future.”
~ Deepak Chopra ~
“The ego relies on the familiar. It is reluctant to
experience the unknown, which is they very essence of life.”
~ Deepak Chopra ~
“If we are creating
ourselves all the time, then it is never too late to begin creating
the bodies we want instead of the ones we mistakenly assume we are
stuck with.” ~ Deepak Chopra ~
“The secret of attraction is to love yourself. Attractive people
judge neither themselves nor others. They are open to gestures of
love. They think about love, and express their love in every action.
They know that love is not a mere sentiment, but the ultimate truth
at the heart of the universe.” ~ Deepak Chopra ~
“Non-judgment quiets the internal dialogue, and this
opens once again the doorway to creativity.”
~ Deepak Chopra ~
“The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat,
can influence your life by 30 to 50 years.”
~ Deepak Chopra ~
Seeking can’t get anyone out of the tangle
because everything is tangled up…it’s much easier to keep up the
fight between good and evil, holy and profane, us and them. But as
awareness grows, these opposites begin to calm down in their clashes,
and something else emerges- a world you feel at home in.”
~ Deepak Chopra ~Work
Chopra has taught at some of America's
most prestigious medical schools, including Harvard, Boston and Tufts University.
As well as working as Chief of Staff for a Masschusetts Hospital, he worked for
himself running a private practice.
Deepa Chopra quotes Ayverdic physcian
Brihaspati Triguna and his wife as being the divine influences that led to him
learning the Transcendental Meditation Technique. The following year, he became
President of the American Association of Ayurvedic Medicine.
As well as being a
physcian, Deepak Chopra was a contributing writer for well-known publications,
The Huffington Post, The Washington Post and The San Fancisco Chronicle. Chopra
is also an acclaimed public speaker and Deepak Chopra quotes are used all the
time in everywhere from medical schools to mind-body and soul clinics.
He has been awarded the Toastmaster's "Top Five Outstanding Public Speakers Award" and
the "Golden Gavel" award. Chopra has also served in an advisory capacity for
medical documentaries and films.
There is no denying Chopra's commitment to
alternative medicine and many Deepak Chopra quotes reinforce the importance of
how a healthy mind helps maintain a healthy body. In 1996, Chopra's lifelong
work came into fruition when he, and neurologist David Simon, opened the Chopra
Center for Wellness. As well as having the opportunity to run his own show,
Chopra also had the chance to incorporate Ayverda into the clinic's schedule.
Deepak Chopra says the clinic is his best work and, after a relocation
to California the clinic continues to do well. Chopra has also been videoed
giving his opinion on everything from how a person can improve their overall
lifestyle to his thoughts on America's president.

"A person
is a pattern of awareness, of a larger awareness."~
Deepak Chopra ~
“Meeting a stranger can be totally fleeting and
meaningless, for example, unless you enter the individual’s world by
finding out at least one thing that is meaningful to his or her life
and exchange at lest one genuine feeling. Tuning in to others is a
circular flow: you send yourself out toward people; you receive them
as they respond to you.” ~
Deepak Chopra ~
“Not every sky will be blue and not every day is
springtime. So on the spiritual path a person learns to find this
kind of happiness without needing nice things to happen on the
outside. Rather, you find happiness by being who you really are.
This isn't mystical. Young children are happy being who they are.
The trick is to regain such a state when you are grown and have seen
the light and dark sides of life.” ~
Deepak Chopra ~
“Give up being right. Instead radiate peace, harmony,
love, and laughter from your heart.” ~
Deepak Chopra ~
“The greatest hunger in life is not for food, money, success,
status, security, sex, or even love from the opposite sex. Time and
again people have achieved all these things and wound up still
feeling dissatisfied- indeed, often more dissatisfied than when they
began. The deepest hunger in life is a secret that is revealed only
when a person is willing to unlock a hidden part of the self."~
Deepak Chopra ~
“Replace fear-based thinking with love-based thinking. Every time
you're making a choice, ask yourself if it's going to cultivate the
experience of unity and love or the experience of separation and
stress.”

The Critics and the Criticised...
Deepak Chopra has been
widely criticised by professionals in the tradtional medicine field.
This is
mainly because certain individuals believe Chopra's techniques and beliefs give
ill people false hope.
They also believe that by following Chopra's alternative
methods, these people are delaying taking advantage of "real" treatment, which
in turn could affect their health and even life expectancy.
Deepak Chopra quotes
his critics claims as being unfounded, insisting that he is merely offering
people "further options to help improve and maintain their health". While Chopra
may have his fair share of critics, he is also not afraid to be critical of
others. He wasn't phased by it in fact a 2008 Times Magazine article has Deepak
Chopra quotes regarding his critics and how he "appears to be a magnet for
criticism".
Chopra has also experieced several incidents of legal suits, usually
involving attributions in his books. Deepak Chopra is also not afraid to speak
up as regards to criticising others. As well as criticising a number of
prominent medical articles, documents and books, he famously criticised Stephen
Hawking's book "The Grand Design".
Deepak Chopra was also a close friend of the
late Michael Jackson and Deepak Chopra quotes himself in one of his books
forewards referring to "drug-pushing doctors and their co-dependent relationship
with celebrities." He also wrote a critical review of " The Magic of Reality", a
book by Richard Dawkins for the Huffington Post.
For all his critics,
Chopra has an army of fans – of both his public speeches, educational
instructions, books, as well as the many people who attend his clinic on a daily
basis. Outspoken and fiesty, books by Deepak Chopra are more popular than many
modern day bestsellers. Deepak Chopra quotes reguarly appear in medical-related
material and there is no question he is held in high regard as a physcian,
author, public speaker, educator and general champion of alternative medicine
and therapy.
"Always go with your passions. Never ask if it is realistic
or not."~
Deepak Chopra ~
“Pain
is not the same as suffering. Left to itself, the body discharges
pain spontaneously, letting go of it the moment that the underlying
cause is healed. Suffering is pain that we hold on to. It comes from
the mind’s mysterious instinct to believe that pain is good, or that
it cannot be escaped, or that the person deserves it.”
~
Deepak Chopra ~
“People don’t
realize, he said, how important it is to wake up every morning with
a song in your heart.” J. Krishnamurti. “The song stands for a sense
of joy in existence, a joy that is free of any good or bad choices.”
~
Deepak Chopra ~
“Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet.
It is a way
of entering into the quiet that is already there - buried under the
50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day”~
Deepak Chopra ~
“Be happy for no reason,
like a child. If you are happy for a reason, you’re in trouble,
because that reason can be taken from you.” ~ Deepak Chopra ~
The Future ...
Deepak
Chopra's popularity continues to grow, with a highlight that arrived in 2010
when Chopra received both the "Humanitarian Starlite Award" and the "GOI Peace
Award". Deepak Chopra quotes the awards as being among his "greatest
achievements".
In his 2011 book, "War of the Worldviews: Science vs.
Spirituality, Chopra addresses his critics and responds to specific criticisms.
In the book, Chopra admits to having a deep admiration for science and the
medical advances that have taken place over the last century.
However,
Deepak Chopra quotes also indicate he is "frustrated at modern science's
limitations". He calls for a broader science to be investigated, one which
includes the reality and investigation of the observer.
Other quotes by
Deepak Chopra reveal his main message – that a person who listens to the natural
signals of the body can rid themselves of negative emotions.
“Nothing is more important than reconnecting with your bliss.
Nothing is as rich. Nothing is more real.” ~
