The Let Go Method: The Background 1
This page is all about how to let go. But before you read this page you might
consider reading its 'mother' page
Letting Go
- if you haven't already.
The mother page explains the basics of letting go (or letting go and
letting god, as it is sometimes called).
The Let Go Method is my own creation. I developed it over a
number of years using trial and error.
The Let Go Method is a
result of my own process of 'wild' personal development which I went
through over the course of a number of years. (You can read a bit
more about that on the page
About me, the Personal Development Guy if you like). It is also
the result of me being a coach, self help author and guide in
consciousness.

The Let Go Method: The Background 2
In short, at one point in my process of self improvement and
personal development I reached a state of being which I call Home.
This state of being that can be described with the words total
inner peace, unconditional love, silence, awareness, spaciousness,
happiness and also in many other wonderful ways including, if you
like, as experiencing your true identity, your soul identity.
It is a very attractive state of being. I 'arrived there' after
having done precisely what this page is all about: letting go (let
go let god).
After having been 'in it' for some time it gradually faded again for
me - much to my dismay. (It never went entirely away, though, it's
always with me).
But after it had faded somewhat I found myself:
a)
wanting to experience Home 'full throttle' again and b)
wanting to help other people experience Home, too.
In other words, I wanted to find a way for people to come Home at
will. I knew the key had something to do with the 'let go let god'
thing; I knew the total letting go had been instrumental, so that's
what I focused on. It took me a number of years of intense
experimentation, but I succeeded.

What Is the Let Go Method?
The Let Go Method is both a therapeutic technique and a powerful
path to personal development.
Even if I sometimes use the term let go let god about it, that
doesn't mean that it has to do with organized religion - it doesn't.
Let go let god is just an expression which I sometimes use because
it aptly describes the state of mind I am talking about - the state
of mind which allows you to go Home to silence, spaciousness,
happiness, unconditional love and complete inner peace.
You
can use the Let Go Method all by yourself at any time. You can also
have someone else (a coach, guide in consciousness or just a trusted
friend) help you - this is usually even more powerful.
Generally speaking what you do is you use your awareness to notice
certain conditions in yourself (e.g. thoughts, feelings, needs,
beliefs, etc.).
Then you accept those conditions, put them into words and ask
yourself some questions which you then answer.

The Let Go Method - an Analogy
If you want to know how the Let Go Method works, imagine that
you are travelling down a road which then forks out into
several roads ... all of which lead to the same place - Home.
That's an excellent analogy for the Let Go Method.
Each of those roads in the fork is one of the ways the
method can be used. It consists of several different
techniques - each of which can be used on different aspects of
our life and consciousness (e.g. feelings, thoughts, needs,
etc.).
Used by a pro the Let Go Method helps people
Home almost every time. If you use it by yourself odds are it
will work much of the time ... and as you become more
proficient at using it, it will work most of the time.
But no method dealing with our consciousness works on someone
who (deep down) doesn't want it to work. The individual may
block the experience for a host of subconscious reasons.

The Art of Letting Go - in Practice
Towards the end
of this personal development article you will be presented
with a very simple version of the Let Go Method.
This example,
which involves letting go of a thought, will teach you one (of
several) ways to let go and let god (let go let god). As you
will see in a moment there are several other important
elements (such as feelings, needs, etc.) you can let go of -
to your great benefit.
I have also written a self help
ebook on important aspects of the Let Go Method. It is called
Finding Inner Peace by Letting Go
- 10 Steps to Happiness,
Freedom, Love & More Using the Let Go Method (the above link
leads to an informational page about the book) and it will
teach you how to let go of feelings and needs.
It is 75
easy to read pages, in a PDF ebook for download - and you can get it
immediately after you have paid. It costs $19. You can buy this
excellent self help ebook here:

This
little self help ebook is the precursor of a much bigger book

What to Let Go Of?
So, what is it that you do not want to hold on to, if you want
personal development and a change to a better life? Well,
the answer to that is simple: anything that is limiting you
and giving you an unpleasant experience.
Any kind of unpleasantness
tells you that it is time to let go.
And happily, when it comes right down to it, letting go is
simply ... a decision.
Let Go Let God -
the Let Go Method by Soren Lauritzen, the Personal
Development Guy
Why We Think We Can't Let Go
Remembering that letting go is nothing more than a
decision makes it easy in theory. Not in practice, though.
Why? Because of this connection: the things that bring us
the most unpleasantness also happen to be the things that we
really, really want to hold on to! For some reason we think we
need them.
These are things we take
very seriously. They are NOT things we are just going to let
go just like that.
Let Go Let God -
the Let Go Method by Soren Lauritzen, the Personal
Development Guy
An Example: Obsessive Jealousy
An example might be the unpleasant feeling of jealousy.
For the sake of this example let's assume that we're talking
about obsessive jealousy.
Subconsciously we think that
our jealousy actually protects us from being hurt emotionally.
(Working with my clients has shown this to be so).
The
fact is, however, that jealousy is an extremely destructive
emotion which does NOTHING good for us or our relationships.
On the contrary, it may well drive our partner away. Countless
relationships have ended because of one partner's jealousy.
Clearly, jealousy is a prime subject for the Let Go Method.
However ... we will hold on to our jealousy for dear life.
Subconsciously we are sure we need the jealousy to protect
ourselves from emotional harm.
Furthermore the feeling
of (obsessive) jealousy is extremely unpleasant so basically
we don't want anything to do with it - an attitude which will
make it very difficult to do anything about it.
So, we
go on being jealous - and driving partner after partner away.
And jealousy is just ONE example - there are many, many
others. Too many to count.
So we are stuck, right? No,
not at all. But we do have to do something that seems
counter-intuitive:
We have to go INTO the
unpleasantness and learn its secrets.

Understanding Is the Key
to Let Go and Let God
One thing is pretty certain: You are not going to let go
before you are ready for it. And you are probably not going to
be ready before you understand what is really going on inside
you (i.e. why you are holding on).
As the above jealousy example illustrated the most probable
answer to why you are holding on is: You perceive a need for
something. Thus, uncovering your needs becomes a priority.
Particularly as they relate to whatever it is that is giving
you discomfort, creating an experience of unpleasantness.
So, very often a process of letting go begins with a
process of digging and uncovering. Leading to understanding.
You know you feel a need, yes, but is the reasoning behind
this feeling sound? Probably not. In fact, it probably stems
back to your early childhood, and hopefully things in your
life (and your level of understanding) are somewhat different
now.
But you are acting today on the basis of a
strategy you devised when you were, say, 2 years old. And
unconsciously you are still busy believing in this strategy
and in the reasoning behind it.
Letting go (let go let
god) is a state of mind, a state of being, and those are also
a matter of practice and habit. So as time goes by and you
practice the Let Go Method, it becomes much easier to do that
much wanted let go let god thing.
Well, enough
explanation!
Let's get to it. Trying the Let Go Method
in practice is the best way of learning it.

The Let Go Method Ultra
Light - for Thoughts
What follows is a very simple
version of the Let Go Method. This example, which involves
letting go of a thought, will teach you one of several ways to
let go and let god (let go let god).
To let go of a thought
do the following:
01. Notice that you are experiencing
an unpleasant thought
(Example: My boss hates me)
02. Put the thought into words for yourself; use 1, 2 or 3
sentences in which you state reasons and connections
(Example:
My boss hates me because I am not good enough at my job)
03. Repeat the thought to yourself, several times (preferably
with enhancements like 'really', 'completely', 'totally', 'utterly',
etc.)
(Example: My boss hates me, my boss really hates
me; my boss totally hates me; my boss hates me utterly and
completely)
04. Now answer this question: What lies
behind or beneath that thought? (It is probably another
unpleasant thought, or perhaps an unpleasant feeling).
(Example: I must be a failure as a person)
05. Think
the new, underlying thought or feel the new, underlying
feeling
(Example: I am a failure as a person)
06. Repeat the new, underlying thought to yourself (several
times, preferably with enhancements like 'real'/'really', 'complete'/'completely',
'total'/'totally', 'utter'/'utterly', etc.) or enhance the
new, underlying feeling
(Example: I am a failure as a
person; I am a real failure as a person; I am a complete
failure as a person; I am a total, utter failure as a person)
07. Put your new thought or new feeling into words for
yourself; use 1, 2 or 3 sentences in which you state reasons
and connections
(Example: I am a failure as a person
because I skipped too many classes in school, never studied
and never learned to please people in authority, such as my
boss)
08. Now answer this question: What lies behind or
beneath that thought or feeling? (It is probably another
unpleasant thought or feeling).
(Example: I am lazy)
09. Repeat points 05 to 08 as many times as you need to in
order to reach clarity
That's it. You're done. This is
an ultra light version of the Let Go Method as it pertains to
letting go of thoughts.
Addendum 1: If you get stuck,
use the thought of being stuck (or your feeling of being stuck)
as the feeling/thought in point 06
(An example,
starting at point 06:- (06): I think I am stuck; which might
be followed by ...- (07): Yeah, I am surely stuck, really
stuck, totally stuck, completely and utterly stuck; which
might be followed by ...- (08): I am stuck because the same
thoughts keep popping up over and over again; which might be
followed by ...- (09): What lies behind this feeling is a
feeling of inadequacy; at which point you return to point 06,
etc.)
Addendum 2: If you get to a point where you cannot
feel/think anything, use that emptiness in point 06
(Example:
If you like, you can check out the example from Addendum 1,
but replace 'I feel stuck' with 'I feel empty')
Addendum 3:If you reach a very scary point, where you feel
that you will be lost or even die if you proceed, that is just
great! It means that you are very close to reaching clarity.
Do proceed!
(Example: I have reached a point of no
return, I think I just might die if I continue this process.
At which point you ignore your fear and continue the process).

Let Go Let God: Final words
Please note that the above technique is an extremely cut-down
version of the Let Go Method ... one which only pertains to
thoughts. This version is tested in practice, but it does NOT
include all the steps and all the information you need if you
REALLY want to work with this method.
This cut-down version is, however, useful. It is easy to
learn, quick and easy to use, and in many instances it can
help you quite nicely.
But the let go let god thing can be elusive, and even if
you do not succeed in letting go completely, the odds are that
the process will have helped you realize some pretty important
things. More often than not, this is enough to ease the
discomfort and give you some peace.
Finally, let me just repeat that I have written a self help
ebook on important aspects of the Let Go Method (how to let go
of unpleasant feelings and needs):Finding

Method. 75 pages in a PDF ebook for download at $19. You
